my homepage is usually the BBC...but today its been changed to 'my web search'

I've checked internet options and its still saying that the bbc is my homepage

I've gone to add/remove programmes and deleted my web search and rebooted...but it's still there

any suggestions please

I'm using firefox on windows XP

I've just looked at add/remove and my web search has gone after me deleting it but it's still my home page!

Your home page won't change back after removing it, you'll have to change it yourself.

You should probably run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Download it, install, update it, and then run a scan. Delete whatever it finds, then reboot and you should be good to go.

ok....I've done scans to try and sort it...I've also done 'system restore' but to no avail

seemed to have binned smiley central but can't find any trace of mywebsearch

What if you change your homepage manually (Tools > Options) ? Does it stick or revert to MWS?

yes I've tried that...also when I do get the BBC homepage up, if there is a story with a video ...the video is a blank space!!

really weird this.
