Credit Card Commission Refund

I recently had to take out a last minute £790 car insurance policy due to a miss-comunication with my current insurer. Due to paying by AMEX I incurred a 3% commission charge by the insurance company of £25.
When I took this policy I was told that I could cancel the policy within 14 days. Today this policy started and I also sorted the problem with my previous insurer, meaning that my policy was £520.
So I informed the last minute insurer to cancel the policy, to be told that I would be charge the following for before having the refund;
£25 Admin
£27 Underwriters admin charge
£25 AMEX commission
Surley if I'm getting the majority of this credit charge refunded I should also get the proportion of the commission charge ?
Otherwise it's looking like it's gonna cost me £75 for insurance that I didn't need, and my current insurer back dated their cover by 12 hours to cover the renewal lapse.

The insurance company will still have to pay amex the full amount for the initial payment even though they are doing a refund... they therefore will still charge you the full fee so that they arent out of pocket for it.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
