Reclaiming credit card charges

Hello all

Firstly, sorry to those of you who have had read this sort of post before, but I am very new to the whole thing and didn't know where to start. A number of years ago I was with Barclaycard and they charged me a number of times for late payment (some of which were clearly not late but they charged me nonetheless). I have the credit card number but have no idea as to when my contract with them started. Can I still send in a demand for repayment or should I gather all the details first? If so how do I go about establishing start/end date without contacting them directly (or is that nigh on impossible)

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
