Want to get more fish

i am worried now after reading that a 30 litre tank should only have a single fish in it, we had 2 fish in a tank this size for 5 years & have just replaced one as it died!
we got 2 much smaller fish & the man in the pet shop/garden centre said this would be fine??

Theres two schools of thought, the one per 10 gallon and the inch per gallon.

Both however for the sake of health err on the side of caution.

As long as you have a good size surface area ( ie rectangular tank), you have a pump and filter, you have oxygenating plants, you water change at least 1/3 weekly and you water test regularly, a couple of fish should live really quite long and healthy lives

Two goldfish in a bowl is not good

Ok thanks for all this, i completly confused myself regarding galleons and litres lol.
I blame pregnancy

Well he seems really small in this new tank and alot happier than in his old tank (which was a hexagon shape)
