AA Breakdown for Motorcycles

I just spoke to AA on the phone and they informed me if I want motorcycle cover I just buy online like normal that it's not a separate type of policy

Is this correct? I don't want to buy it then find I try and call up and they won't come get me :(

Same for RAC, which you can get a very good deal on through Tesco clubcard.

You might want to consider Carole Nash for motorcycle insurance because they also provide you with full Europe-wide breakdown cover. Or eBikeinsurance who give you UK-wide cover (as long as your bike is under 8 years old).

I always thought carole nash were expensive (well they are for me) so will avoid as express insure both my bikes (gladius and gs500) for £500 this year, hopefully less next year as I build up no claims and am a bit older!!

I went back to Carole Nash this year having just dumped Bennetts. Their initial quote was £175 vs. Bennetts best renewal price of £155. Told this to Carole Nash who then dropped to £154 - including the breakdown and legal cover which was extra with Bennetts.

It's worth checking if the others have the collapsable trailers the AA used to have.

I broke down a few weeks back and despite telling the call centre that the patrol would not be able to fix the bike, they sent a patrol 90 minutes later who couldn't fix it. And I had to then wait another 90 minutes for a low loader.

A few years back they had the collapsable bike trailers but when they changed vans they got rid of them

It's worth noting the AA and RAC (don't know about others) will only recover motorcycles FOC if they have broken down. If its unrideable due to an accident, you'll be charged.

Yeah that's fine I am only worried about breakdown really as I am going on a long trip with a new-to-me bike so want to make sure I can call someone if it dies along the way!

The full works from Autoaid, just £37.00 :T
Yes they cover bikes too (using bike trailers) as part of the policy.
They also will recover bike in event of an accident (and it's not drivable)

You also want to watch out for the cheapest recovery options from the AA and RAC, they will only recover you 10miles or so free of charge any further and they will charge you. Not so much a problem in a car as places to get repairs are more numerous, but a real pain on a bike.
