Got a new electricity meter - how does it work?
I've got one of those fancy new digital meters, changed from the old one with the wheel going round. Couple of questions.
1) With no wheel I can't see the rate I'm using leccy now. But there is a red light that flashes occasionally, I think this is related to consumption. But does anyone know if, say, it flashes every 10 seconds how much I'm using?
2) I currently have 'Rate 1' which shows 11 units, and 'Rate 2' which shows 4. Then there's a 'Total', but this shows 19 and not 11+4=15 as I would expect. What is this 'Total' then?
Thanks! (Meter is from Atlantic).

If its the same as mine 1000 impulses represent 1 Kwh.
So if you are getting one flash every 10 seconds, thats 6 in a minute 360 in an hour so you are consuming 360 watt hours.
Dunno why your rates don't add up, is there a rate 3 BTW are you on E7That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Your supplier will probably only use rate 1 & 2 or total to bill you. Given that this meter is obviously brand new I would just let your supplier know about this small difference. I would also check that the difference remains at 4, if it grows I would get back onto your supplier.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
