2 Heating Questions
Options
1) How easily and cheaply is it to fit a central thermostat in the house and a normal thermostat on the radiator in the bathroom? ie those wireless ones that you set the temperature that controls the heated waterflow for the whole house? We have gas central heating, modern combi boiler. We have thermostats on each of the radiators around the house except the one in the bathroom.
2) When we have the heating on we tend to have it on for about 30-60mins in the morning then off when we go to work, then in the evening but off at night. We have been told that it would be cheaper to leave the heating on the whole time reducing the thermostat temp at night and during the day when we are out, than turning it on and off as all we are doing is wasting money heating the walls/floors up eachtime.
So which is cheaper/better? on all the time or off/on/off/on?
Thanks
John

If all the rads except the bathroom have trvs then you don't want to fit a trv to the bathroom rad as this will be the byepass rad.
How easy is it to fit a room stat? well that depends on your abilitys.
To be honest its not hard, you have to remeber though you are dealing with electricity.
I would recomend honeywell or drayton programmable wireless stat.
The best way to run your heating sytem is turn the bedroom trvs down or off in rooms not in use. I would not leave my house with the heating running constantly as your are just throwing money away.0 -
