Hi all,
I've got a Halifax CC that has come off of it's 0% interest period (:p). It's served it's purpose, it's got a balance of zero, and I was going to close it.
However, I'm not sure whether it's better:
a) Closing the Halifax & having a "Settled" on my credit file, demonstrating that I can end a credit relationship amicably, or:
b) As the majority of my credit accounts have been open for under a year, would I be better leaving it open to accrue those little green zeros, meaning that I've got two longer-standing credit accounts open rather than one?
Credit file currently looks like this (no defaults/missed payments/overlimits):
Mobile Phone Contract (since May 08);
HSBC Credit Card - £4k limit (since September (2009));
Halifax - £1,400 Limit (since Oct 2008);
HSBC O/D: Only £500 - Since January (2009);
Thanks in Advance
Ben

lenders normaly like to see over 6 months worth of payments. I woul thought keep it open past the offer 0% because lenders may see you as not going to make them anything as always on promotional etc0

With just two credit cards to your name, I certainly wouldn't rush to close this one down.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
