Hi all,
I am looking to get a website up and running to promote a fundraising event i am doing later in the year. The problem is I am now becoming completely confused by all of the options.
I thought I had it sussed, have spent a while playing on 123-regs. Found a domain name i liked, but then got confused by all of the options. On the front page they had a bit called Instant Site for £2.99 a month, this sounds perfect (i think)! But then do I need to pay them ofr hosting as well?
If so is there an easier and cheaper way of doing it?
I would ideally like to be able to havre about 10 pages, with the option ability to host pictures and diary feature, one i saw could do a basic forum aswell!?
Any ideas or help would be great
Thanks in advance
Ian

Hi,
Perhaps you've got this sorted out already ?
Just in case you haven't this is what I did. I registered my domain name here (seemed cheap) http://www.ukreg.com/ and then pointed the domain to my own webspace provided by my isp.0 -
You could open a googlemail account and use the page creator for free. PM me of you want an invite.0

Hosting and a domain can be had for £18.99 a year from http://www.streamline.net .
If you can wait a few weeks I could give you a quote for web design, I'm currently preparing to start up working for myself.........0 -
It is pretty simple; you buy a domain name and then you host your files on a server. The domain name has be configured so that when someone types that name into their browser they are connected to the files on the server.
I used ukreg and fasthosts and it's a pretty cheap deal. Something like £10 to register my domain name for 2 years, and then I pay £8 per month for a lot of storage space.
As to web design, I used notepad to write the html code, though most office applications now allow you to save to htm format.Happy chappy0 -
I registered my domain name with 1&1, £1.99 + vat per year, minimum 2 years. Did it through Quidco and got £2 cashback. Check out their hosting deals as there are cashback deals on them too - £15 for the instant website package.0
