Bt rip off charges force evry1 to use 18185

Bt charged me 15p each for making a few local calls which last mere seconds, i only made them so not to have to pay for caller display see here for complete info http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1598074&postcount=4

Heres the new scandalous charges theyre forcing on people & forcing customers to use saynoto1870, 18185 & the wonderful http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/ukcallchecker/

"""On 1st October we changed a few of our prices the call set-up fee for non-inclusive calls from landlines increased from 8p to 9.05p per call. The cost of UK calls made during the daytime increased from 4.5p per min to 5.25p per min."""

What a rip to charge 9.05pence to make a connection for a local call !!!!

It's the same as public call boxes. The minimum charge is 40p,so you make a,say 30-40 second call to book a taxi,BT have made,what,30p profit on a call that used to cost 10p!

Local calls are included in bundled packages with BT. Those few [STRIKE]leeches[/STRIKE] people who choose not to use BT for a calls package have to pay for their local calls. Where is the rip off? You are the one who is avoiding paying for Caller Display. If you do not like the connection charge why not just pay the monthly fee for Caller Display?

Why didn't you make those 'qualifying calls' at the weekend - when they'd have cost you nothing?

    Er....no they're not.

01/02/03/0845/0870 calls of up to 60 minutes each (additional restrictions apply to 0845/0870 calls) are included in their 3 call plans (w/end, ev&w/end, anytime) but the distinction between 'local' and 'long distance' calls was abolished in 2004.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Why is BT a "rip-off" ?

You know their prices, you are aware of the availability of 18185 - no rip-off !

You got caller display for like 15p for a month? A service some people pay £2.50 for... You have not been ripped off. If you really wish to save these pennies then just remove caller display. There are people on here who really have been ripped off lol and by a lot more than a couple of 15 pence charges on their bill. :P

Anyone who uses BT for their calls on a regular basis may feel they are being ripped off. But in your case you have not really been ripped off in any way.
