Topshop Returns by Post - Delayed/Lost

Hi there!

This is my first post here, hopefully it's in the correct forum!

I ordered 3 items of clothing from the Christopher Kane collection for Topshop on 18/09/2009, totalling £292.50. When the clothing arrived, it was all too small, so I requested a returns code and sent it back on 01/10/2009 (I was away on business at the time, but this is still within the 14 days as per T&Cs).

It's now 24/10/2009 and according to the Royal Mail tracking site, the parcel is "being progressed through our network for delivery." When I investigate further, I receive this message: "We’re sorry your item hasn’t arrived yet. Because it is now more than 15 days since your item was due to arrive, it might have been lost."

I've been in touch with Topshop about this, but all I've recieved is a generic email telling me to wait 10 days for the parcel to be received when clearly if they'd read the dates they'd see that it has exceeded this.

Now before you ask, I do know that there is a postal strike on at the moment, but I just want my money back...(a common goal I think we all share on this site).

What can/do I do?!

you sent £300 worth of clothing via recorded delivery or special delivery?
  • When you order from Topshop the delivery comes with a prepaid returns label. I think it's second class recorded. All you have to do is generate a returns code from the Topshop website, take the parcel to the Post Office and have the counterfoil stamped by the PO clerk.
  • Its just bog standard 2nd class isnt it?

I imagine you will be fine if you have the counterfoil signed to say you did return them? Ring Topshop and speak to them.

It can't be bog standard 2nd class if the OP can track it on the royal mail website. If the returns dept is in London, there is every likelihood that it is stuck in a mail sack somewhere as London posties have been striking on and off for weeks and there is supposed to be a big backlog (even more now after the last few days).
