Hi all, I've recently got in touch with a window company (Envirxxxxxx) after reading really good review on a review website (review cxxxxx). The sales came and provided me with a verbal quote of over £18k. When I told him that was out of my budget, he responded in sarcasm saying that he'd burn the quote. And in the end, he insisted to take photos of the front and back view of my house. However, I never received any written quotation or any call from them. I thought this was very unprofessional and posted a review on the website. But within a day, the website took it off and emailed me saying that the company complaint and if I wanted to keep the post, I needed to provided the website with personal details. But that company may take further action against my post. If I don't provide the details, then the post will not be posted. I feel threatened and I do not want to have my personal details kept with this website. (I read the privacy policy, they even charge you £10 if you want change and get the information about you that they keep!!). I wonder if any of you got similar experience. In any case, perhaps be cautious when using these sites. And if you are looking to replace your windows, stay away from that company!

You mention neither the company, nor the review site..!!
How is anyone supposed to give opinions or advice??
Why not post your review of them here by naming them, you may find more posters with experience of them.0 -

Given that a fictitious name and addess - you are under no legal obligation to give them your real name and address."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
You are right, think I should name them - website is Review Centre, window company is called Enviroglaze. Thanks for responding!0

Interestingly there was a new law brought out fairly recently which makes it illegal for companies or their employees or associates to post missleading reviews, blogs etc on the internet. So if a hotel posts a bogus good review on themselves on tripadviser or say a window company post a review of themselves purporting to be from a happy customer it is technically illegal.
It will be great when they get round to starting to pursue cases under this law0 -

What section of what Act of Parliament makes this activity illegal?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

I think it is probably Part 5 of The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.0
