Computer Repairs - Belfast?

Hope someone here can help me. I have an almost 2 year old compaq laptop (so well out of its warranty period).
It just wont switch on, initially i thought that it was the charger so i ordered a new charger, but it didnt work, then i thought maybe the battery, so i removed the battery and tried to switch on but no. I still think it could be the battery.
A colleague suggested that i try Smithfield market, so i took it there last week, but the worker there told me that they would take £20 upfront to diagnose what is wrong with it and for me to call back in a week, to find out....... i didn't give him this and took the laptop back home (as i could not afford to give £20 to him and then spend more for something that may be simple)
So would anyone know any fair computer repair places in Belfast, or should i just throw my beloved laptop in the bin.
Please help

There is one at the bottom of the Woodstock near the police station who are excellent at repairs. But they all will take deposit to look at it, sorry.0

I live in Larne & recently got a flyer in through the door from someone who fixes laptops/PC's.. He states 'no fix, no fee' & 'no call out charge' so might be worth a try... The number is 07717 571 538........
Sorry don't know anything else about them.....What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
You could try Carrick Laptop Repairs - specialise in laptops only.
They can get of hold of parts i can't get near.
and actually fix motherboards - a rare thing in this country.0 -

They do PC's as well. Ours needed a new power switch and it was fitted promptly and at a very good price.0 -
