lol sorry bit confusion there i was talking about the first car being exempt and wanting the v5
not mentioned fatherinlaw offering to by new one yet thought he might think we were chacing our luck lol-0 -
Oh sorry, I thought you'd already asked about a replacement
But still, not entirely sure if that is standard in Scotland, In England once your car is exempt it's your to do with as you wish, even sell if you want to, so they wouldn't ask for the V5 here.
Perhaps a Scottish member will know if it's different north of the wall?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

As a thought - beware of your trustee seeing you making payments to your father in law for the newer car in bank statements. Make sure you pay cash.0 -
father in law dont want payed back was going to buy car then give to wife
but i thing ip may be intrested in it0 -
If the car is exempt under the Debt Arrangement and Attachment Scotland Act -ie worth less than £1,000 (thank you Tommy Sherridan) then the IP should have no interest in it.
If you didn't pay for it and you aren't paying out for it then he should have no reason to object or to try and realise it as an asset in that case.0
