Shower and tap mixer fitting

Hello,
recently moved into my new flat, and fed up of the bath and no shower situation. Have bought three different shower add ons (you know, rubber hose type), none have fit so far and if they have its been rubbish, not fitting, hardly any water getting through etc.

Just wondering what kind of price i would be looking at for fitting new taps with a shower attachment aswell, not very diy savvy at all so i wouldnt be fitting lol! (probably my dad) is it viable? how hard would this be to do?

Thanks:o

Google it and you will come up with hundreds of different companies and a variety of prices.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

if you live in a flat, youre unlikely to have a HW cylinder in the loft/high up. which makes it hard to get a decent shower from the bathtaps.
mayber better to spend the money on an electric shower?

I'm looking myself at those taps with shower attachments - I think I saw a half decent one on ScrewFix for about £40.

I'm wondering if I can install it myself, or ask a plumber to do it.

Without knowing your exact situation I would be wary about fitting a bath mixer with shower attachment. To get a mixer working well it has always been a preferred option to have balanced working pressures at the taps i.e. mains pressure cold and hot or tank fed cold and hot - even with the better manufacturers who quote a greater working pressure differential between hot and cold - customers are in general a bit dissapointed and would always reccomend having an actual shower if at all possible - we have been fitting mixer taps with a shower as an addition to a seperate shower enclosure in a rather expensive hotel and even with extra height of their cold storage tanks the pressure differential is quite noticeable - they are changing to fully pressurised soon so they won't have probs - the alternative option is ti fit a prv on the mains inlet and a non return valve on the low pressure pipework (part of our local byelaws but maybe not where you are) hope I haven't confused the issue but good luck on whatever you do

With either bath/shower mixer taps or the push on rubber hose type pressure needs to be decent and roughly equal to achieve any sort of shower at all. If your hot/cold bath taps are fed from roofspace tank then it needs to be around 4ft above the height of the shower head to give you an adequate enough flow/pressure.
Low pressure can be overcome with either a power shower or shower pump, neither is cheap and both will have noise problems but the wiring of them will be cheaper, these type of showers will give best flow/pressure but will require preheated water storage.
An electric shower will need substantial wiring but won't require any hot water storage, pressure/flow rate is reasonable from an electric shower.
