Great domain name - How can I make some money

Hi,
I have been reading up a lot about making money via Google Adwords, Blogs and affiliates.
I have owned a pretty good domain name for a while now as i was going to start a forum website about peugoets.
There is nothing at all on this website its blank so I assume it will be okay for me to put it just to show you how good it is and so I can get the right judgement of what i would be able to do with it.
its peugeotonline . com I like the ideas about blogs and using adwords but cannot think of any kind of content that i could fill a website about a car manufacturer.
I am good at building websites and i would say i have above average computer knowledge.
What would you suggest would be the best route to go down with this in order to generate a growing income over time ??
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
ADMIN: When the site is up and running I shall remove website address from post ,

Hi
You could compare this company to other car manufacturers. Such as how it compares with a Ford or BMW or a Bently. :j
I hope this helps. Kam0 -

I have decided to go ahead and create a profile based forum website.
People will join and create a profile about themselves and also upload photos of there car and they can discuss problems, performance modifications and treat it as a knowledgebase to search on how to repair things when they go wrong. It is going to also have how to guides aswell :-D
Then i will use google adwords to provide revenue and also affiliate links to car part places and car stereo online stores etc . . .0 -
When i saw your domain, i was going to suggest start an owners club, but looks like you have already done so
Good luck though, i too run a popular owners club, but make little to no money off itJames0 -
I added some tips on affiliate marketing in another thread that might be of interest! As suggested in that thread, a car community has an obvious car insurance sales opportunity. Adsense can provide lucrative CI income.
I would point out two problems you need to think about seriously before committing too much time on this project. Whether this puts you off or not is up to you, just go in with eyes open!
- Why will people join your site and not the official owner community? A quick search shows there is a lot of competition - do you have the time/funds to market your site and get it out there?
- Peugeot is obviously a registered trademark. This means sooner or later you'll get a lawyer's letter asking you to hand back the domain - are you prepared to take on a court case? Opinion on this is split, some people say there is little risk, others say the worst case is a ruinous court case - ie it could be argued you are profiting because of (on your own admission) great branded domain name. I would seek professional legal advice, please don't base potentially life changing decisions on forum advice!! I recently got a letter from Amazon's lawyers asking me to surrender a Kindle related domain - so I know it does happen! They were happy for me just to sign it over and unless you have the money to fight it you don't have much choice.
Not to be too gloomy, I offer a couple of suggestions to proceed with. If I were you, I might target my site at a particular model, at least initially, or a specific angle - modifications, repairs, or...? This will help overcome point 1. I would seek professional legal advice on point 2. I read a lot of forums on this issue and no one can agree, but a scary legal letter is something that I know may get sent - as I have had one myself! Make sure you are prepared for that before continuing.
PS. Save yourself some time, use e107. A solid core installation means you don't have to spend 6 months working out which plugins to use only to have to ditch them because the author has stopped supporting them etc. Here is an e107 car site (Its not mine mods - im not advertising, honest!).0 -
wouldnt go down the joomla route, lots of other forum software out there and joomla is slow
I wouldnt stick with a particular model, have sub forums for models like fiatforum
to see how you could run a succsessful forum look at scoobynet
check spelling as well
good luck with it0 -
I have to agree with Susie, if it has the name Peugeot in the domain name then they will most likely (if your site gets busy enough) take it off you, if you go to court over it you will lose it especially if you just park it after the first C&D hoping to cash in on some of your previous members traffic / existing links on the web.
Take a look at namepros.com it's a great site about domains and there are folks there and sections that will inform you everything you need to know about domains and developing0 -
With google, who cares what a domain name is?Happy chappy0
