    The MSE article states:
The tariff is guaranteed to stay 3% below Scottish Power's standard direct debit gas and electricity prices until December 2010. There's also an up to £50 exit fee if you switch before then.

At the moment(according to energyhelpline) this tariff is 20% below SP's standard rate in my area.

With no change in their standard tariff rate, it would appear that SP reserve the right to increase their prices 17% on this tariff. If this happened a customer has the choice of paying this increased tariff, or pay the £50 exit fee.

This seems to be a trend these days.

Just think how many customers from the 'Fixed until 31.08.09' tariff they could have retained if they had brought this in somewhat earlier ...

    Hi all,

I switched to SP back in August and the package was called "Online Energy Saver 6" back then.

Are the price reductions here only applicable to "Online Energy Saver 7" or does my older "6" benefit too?

How on earth are you meant to keep up with the actual costs of your package!!!???

(and I thought it was great getting £70 cashback at the time through TopCashBack - now its £110!!!)

    You canny win.

  • This tariff is still not impressive. I switched from ScottishPower recently (to E.ON) and even with this price cut Uswitch still shows the above SP tariff to be £48 higher. They'll have to try a lot harder than this, bearing in mind their poor customer service.

NB it also has a penalty clause - beware
