Just thought I'd add: Take a freeview box with you and you can now get BFBS 1-8. Just do a channel scan when you're down there.

Also worth taking a good digital aerial down with you as some of the installed aerials aren't that good for getting BFBS.

I spent 7 months there about 3 years ago. I loved the place, got mega fit (i was also working shifts and had the ability to sign the keys out from 12 fac during the night shifts), the beer is cheap and in cans (about a quid) no spirits for Cpl and below, but there are ways around that. :beer:

From an Army point of view its crabtastic, the cookhouse is mega and there was always a good athomsphere in the bottom NAAFI (the top was a little dodgy). The exercises are poo though.

On my R&R i went to Rio with some pals, it cost pennies considering what you'd pay from the UK. There is also heli flights to the various islands dotted around the islands and the great battlefield tours.

One of the best postings/tours i've had (beats the stan)

Got fit, saved a load and had some good nights!

Best thing to do (or used to be) is to find out who you are replacing and write the them. They will give you all the info you need.

things are hideously expensive from the naafi - if you're into the Gym thing make sure you take as many containers of creatine, whey protien etc etc as possible. You will get disgracefully ripped of at the naafi for this stuff.

other than that I did a 6 mth tour - it raced by in no time at all

DVD library is very good, seal island trip worth doing, life is not too bad at all. Stanley hardly worth the effort. Paying for the luxury of C&W internet in you're own room is a rip-off. I was there 2 yrs ago so hope this is still valid info.
