BSM instructor always late/shortening lessons - in need of advice

My BSM driving instructor is a really good teacher.

The problem is he is constantly arriving late for lessons and ending lessons early. Sometimes by as much as 20 minutes. I have mentioned towards the end of lessons that it hasn't been 2 hours yet and he replies by saying he is late for his next lesson. I know this is no excuse but I can hardly demand he teaches me for an extra 20 minutes there and then when he's rushing me back home.

BSM are the most expensive driving school out there so when I pay for a 2 hour lesson I expect it to be 2 hours long, not 1 hour 40 mins.

I have no idea what to do, because if I complain BSM will switch me to another instructor, which I really don't want. When I complain to him he just disregards my complaints.

I would pay him for 100 mins instead!
If he works for 2 hours then he gets paid for 2 hours :)

I cant see him being a good driving instructor if he's short changing you every time.
My daughter pays nearly half of what BSM charge for her driving instructor, he's never late or early back and is a great instructor (her words).

Worth looking at changing him if your not happy about his timekeeping.

Why not ask to be his very first lesson of the day, then if he is late for the next appointment it won't be yours.

If you pre pay for the lesson, state that you will pay at the end of each lesson and write a cheque for the actual amount of time? Or say as my lessons have so far been x amount short, could I have the next y lessons for free?
  • There's lots of good instructors about, you should change.

Do you really want to be putting up with this as you get nearer your test?

Why do you pay him for work he isn't doing?

If you are not comfortable confronting your instructor, complain to BSM.

There are lots of good instructors and anyone competent would leave sufficient time between appointments.

My instructor is from bsm and is smashing, i've found the staff really helpful so I would defo change instructors. Mine's been late and made sure we still do the full two hours, we've often gone over by twenty minutes or so aswell if I've been in the middle of something.

I am literally the worst driver ever aswell (put hands over eyes on a dual carriage way:eek:), but he's being very patient!
  • i personally had a bad experience with BSM and would never recommend them to anyone, however, you arent doing your self any favours just because the instructor is "nice" - pay him the correct times or find another instructor x

OK next lesson I will confront him at the beginning of the lesson. If I don't get anywhere I will call BSM and switch to another instructor and ask that they refund me for the missed time. Will let you know how it goes.

    Thanks for the advice. :)
