Strange but true! CAFCASS joined with the mother at the final custody hearing to recommend that the mother have sole custody. I got the Joint Residence Order I asked for and ever since the CAFCASS officer has held a grudge (me calling after the hearing her to tell her she got it wrong didn't help...).
Now she acts just like the mother and can only see the case as mum vs dad and not the best interests of my son. Naturally she takes the mother's side in everything.
Which, to bring this back on topic, is a bit like the CSA. In my experience they take everything the mum says as the gospel truth and everything I say as a deliberate attempt to hide my true income. Last year I had to employ accountants to prove that I didn't have an income. An exercise that resulted in me now owing £2,500 to the accountants. Well done the CSA :T0 -
I guess I spoke too soon about how good my current case worker is!
I got a call today from the CSA in Manchester (0161 number). They said that due to an admin error my case had "gone clerical" and was being dealt with by them. A little gentle questioning revealed that a "complaints officer" was reviewing my case and would report back in one week!
Why do they do this? After two years of explaining my circumstances to different people I finally got through to one case worker who took the time to understand my case and give me some continuity. Apparently there has been some kind of complaint and my case gets transferred to the other end of the country.
Has anyone else gone through this and do I have any chance of getting my old case officer back now that the case "has gone clerical"? (and what on earth does that phrase mean?).0 -
It basically means that your case will not work on the csa computer system so all caluculations will be done manually. You wont have your old case worker however if they have done their job correctly they should have written down details of your case for the next case officer to conitnue where they left off, it sounds as though your last case worker did have an intetest so you should be ok however if the stuff is not in your file you could always call previous case worker and explain to them and they might be able to contact your new case worker. My case went clerical a few months ago now due to system problems and thats what I did. Good luck0

Ann1971, thanks. I'm sure the old case officer would have made good notes so fingers crossed!0
