No claims discount not applicable with Direct Line Home Insurance

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Direct Line Home Insurance doesn't accept any No Claims Discount from previous insurers, unfortunately, I've found out too late - I didn't notice when purchasing on-line that there wasn't a box to fill in the details of your No Claims Discount, so in effect I've just lost 6 years worth of NCD. Very annoyed as I've now got to start again!!

NCD on home insurance is a marketing gimmick. The discounts allowed are far lower than those given for motor and the NCD is usually only valid while you stay with the insurer that offers it. It is not transferable like motor policy NCDs.
If the DL premium was the cheapest anyway then you haven't lost out.0 -
You presumably changed insurer for a reason? You would know the premium they wanted before buying, so it must have been acceptable.
"NCD" regarding house insurance isn't like it is with car insurance, it's not universal, and not transferable like it is with car ins.
If you have gone 6 years without an incident, then that still applies.0
