My parents are looking to buy a new television set.
The Specified criteria are as follows:
- 37 inch screen (No bigger no smaller)
- HD Ready (and i mean ready not just compatible)
- Freeveiw tuner in addition to analogue
- Flat Screen
- as close to a £1000 as possible
My query is as thus, given the size of the screen, what is most suitable, LCD or Plasma?
For instance this set looks a decent buy:

I'm by no means an expert in this field, but I remember reading something about Plasma's only lasting a few years before you had to do something to them... Unless they've improved them considerably so that you don't have to do this I would go for LCD.0

LCD suffer from motion smeering
Plasma have a life of 30,000hrs - though this is 16hrs a day, everyday for 5 years - but they do suffer from screen burn
To me, unless you play a lot of consol games on it I would stick with plasma at this point.
My recommendation would be the Panasonic TH37PX60 http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/sound-and-vision/vision/tv/569340/prices about £1300 inc cabinate stand - cheaper with wall bracket or table top stand obviously. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
