Oh there is - you'd be surprised.lynzpower wrote:Partly i think its the weather, i can actually do stuff now.
Is it because it's cool?lynzpower wrote:I agree with you, I probably am still unwell,
You are definately still unwell, and all the denial in the world can't change that.lynzpower wrote:i cant see a cure happening overnight, and in fact I did have some pains this morning, as usual I guess I was being ever the optimist and hoping it was all over, it patently isnt.
I dont know how DLA deal with intermittent conditions, today I feel i could climb everest, tomorrow I might not be able to walk to the postbox.
It's not really what you feel like that determines it, it is what you can do and how it effects you. You get the money because it is hard for you to keep down a demanding job. You don't get the money for how high up the pain scale you can go. If that was the case, many women would get DLA every month when the painters were in, or be absolutely rolling in cash during childbirth.lynzpower wrote:your a treasure ZTD,
Ancient and just dug up?lynzpower wrote:I dont want to be ill any more though _pale_
I don't want you to be ill. I don't want me to be ill. As I'm typing this, I'm forcing down another cup of soluble co-codamol - my third of the day. I hate the stuff but it has to be done. All the denial in the world doesn't take the pain away, but the co-codamol does reduce it.
The DLA isn't going to take your pain away, but it will help reduce the necessity for a demanding job (though not a job full-stop) which will help to reduce the pain.

There is something beyond depressing about filling in a form that asks you to describe (ie face up to) how your physical condition dictates your life. I am sure many applications fail because the optimistic/honest/in denial bit of our brain fills in the form to represent a good day.
When I was helped to my feet after a fall by a traffic warden who wanted to know why on earth I didn't have a blue badge, some switch in my brain moved.
I finally admitted that I wasn't actually going to get better, and when I filled in the form again, on the page asking 'have you any mental health problems?' I said 'no, but filling this form in has made me cry'.
I'm not willing you to get to that point, Lynz, in fact I'd love to think you'll never get there, but it's a huge psychological step.
Being ill is actually no fun at all, no matter how many times I make the 'worth every minute of pain just to be able to park' joke. OK, it wouldn't exactly win the Perrier award, but one does one's best.
Put the form in a 'I don't have to worry about that today' compartment for now.

Hi Lynz,
When you go to DIAL or Welfare Rights Advisory Service to fill out the form, you have to describe really what you're like on your very worst days. This is so they can see how badly you're affected.
Chin up hun - you're an inspiration.

Its on my list of things to dopoint taken. Wendy, thats exactly how I feel, which iS why the heel dragging is so pertinent, I never usually avoid stuff, but this is one of thise things I do
Anyway onto brighter things, been away this weekend, and back to the folks.
the premise being, me & OH going to outlet village. May have mentioned before that my mums a bit of a spender, she loves bargains, but not the sort you were going to buy anyway. Dad cant stand the house literally heaving with clothes with the tags on etc. So dad suggested we should pillage, whatever we wanted we could have. sister, who has a pechant for anything lux, said we could have whatever we wanted as long as we were not taking it to sell on ebay, as she said thats taking the proverbial pi$$! Basically, the upper floor of the house, was packed and heaving with just stuff.
So, pillage we did. honest DFWs it would make your eyes bleed. Piles of clothes with the tags on, boxes upon boxes of half used designed toiletries, new socks, photo frames, the lot. Brand new thick duvet ( weve been umming adn ahhing over spending the money on a decent duvet, now we dont have toAlso a box of my old books which will have a resale value
and food from the kitchen
I dont really even know what we got, but lots of new stuff, and new to us stuff
WELL CHUFFED!
PLus out of my birthday money, I bought pair of adidas trainers, kickers bag, gap top, 3 tops, and spent 35 quid :j So I have 350-35, 315 left. AMAZING. thats going back into savings I really dont need to spend that for the time being :T
We went for a gorgous meal too.
So all in all it was really really good to get home, so completely chuffed.
But back to the real world.
Im going to put my weekly targets on here, so that I can keep focused. I do get into flyladying, but kind of eyes off the prize here in DFW so....
this week I have to
1) put spare money back into cahoot savings account.
2) discuss with union what next step is in terms of the hearing
3) speak with dial or similar oto get them to help with my dla appeal
4) call hospital for cancellations
5) speak to legal centre that comes with contents insurance, re work situ
6) complete decorating
7) do all cleaning & organising a la flylady
8) menu plan& stick to it!

Glad to hear you had a fruitful day Lynz. Your parents' house sounds like Aladdin's cave.

Coo, can we all have a pillage at your folks' house?? Sounds like it was just what you 2 needed to boost you both after the rough time you've had lately.
Glad to see you're feeling better, but I agree with everyone else - you HAVE to appeal. A friend of mine's 15 yr old son has Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy (affects only boys, most extreme form, life expectancy of early 20's), and applied for DLA a few years ago before he was 100% wheelchair bound. They refused on the grounds that he wasn't ill enough, and she wasn't going to appeal, but I sort of pushed her into it & told her to take her son with her so he could explain why they had applied, and that he would probably be dead within 10 years. They got it.
Anyway -what's happening with the flat? Are you still selling?
