Just a word of warning - it looks like it's £101 cashback if you sign up to their fixed price tariff (until 2010) with penalties for leaving early - £30 elec and £20 gas i think, or vice versa.
Anyway i signed up to a similar deal a while ago and got about £70 cashback through quidco and was aghast when fuel prices started dropping yet my monthly fixed Direct Debit with scottish power went from £55 to £105. I asked for it to be lowered and they said no, and said if i overpaid it would be given back at a later point. I said in that case i would cancel DD and they said DD was part of fixed term contract and if i cancelled they would move me to another tariff and charge me £50 for the priveldge.
I was left trapped in a deal for the next year paying way over the odds, or face paying £50 just to leave!
(in the end i was a bit naughty and said i 'moved house' and then got my sis to 'move in', change suppliers then i 'moved back' again.
Just do some research before signing up to a fixed term deal is all i would suggest.
Edit: thanks for clarifying it doesn't have to be a fixed term deal - may be worth doing if you can move away once cashback received..."Sealed Pot challenge" member No.1378 -

It just says £101 cashback for a dual fuel switch. Can't see where it says you have to take up the fixed price tariff?Fatcheese.co.uk - £1345.27 (Joined April 2009)

Tend to agree with Bob here.
I signed up for Scottish power last year with prices supposedly fixed before the price hike. After the first 2 months, my DD went up by about £50 a month and I paid more last year than I have ever done, even when prices fell.
I have just moved over to Eon and my DD's have now dropped by about £80 a month. We'll just have to see how that works out. (Also, I received £62 cashback via quidco for the change..and it has already been paid even though my contract doesn't officially start until the first week in November.)
Basically, as Bob said, you have to shop around for the best deal for you. Cashback is just an additional bonus, but no good if it is swallowed up in price hikes.0 -

.
Answer is dont fix
, choose a tariff with no exit penalties and keep switching every few months, thats what I do. ( direct debit increases have more to do with usage or perceived usage than price increases)
As you say u have received your 62.00 Cashback for EON switch, had you chosen a tariff with no exit penalties then you would have been able to switch again for 101.00 Cashback, then back to EON again for more Cashback.

Sounds fine in theory, but I don't see any point in choosing a more expensive tariff just to get cashback. It also takes 6-8 weeks to change each time, so you're stuck with a more expensive tariff for 2 months at least.
I also thought the cashback was for new customers only although I'll stand to be corrected on this one. Unlikely they'll keep paying out if you keep switching though. My £80 a month reduced tariff and £62 cash back gives me £142 saving in the first month alone..better than the £101 cashback deal surely?
From your link...this is a capped price deal which is typically more than standard dual fuel tariffs. (They were about to move me onto this before I switched which would have meant another price increase.)
Quote:
Scottish Power may apply cancellation charges inclusive of VAT of £30 for electricity and £20 for gas if you switch to Capped Price Energy July 2010 but then cancel your supply contract or switch to another tariff before the 30th June 2010. These charges will not be applied if the supply contract is cancelled due to a home move.
This offer is not applicable to existing customers or to any members who have recently applied for cashback with Scottish Power and has a pending application. If an existing customer or member who has recently submitted an application applies more than once, then the application will be cancelled and no cash back will be authorised.
Edit.Ah, I see you've edited your OP. It probably is possible to choose another plan if you click through. It may work for some, but I won't be going back to them any time soon.At best, their estimates of usage are poor, but at least I suppose I now have a large cheque back from them.

With the price of fuel being so high its madness going for SP unless they are actually cheaper that your supplier or any others
Quidco and topcashback now have £101 cashback. Fatcheese now £1100 -

Yes correct, :T so when people switch away from SP they are no longer a SP customer in anyway shape or form.
Also remember that Fatcheese guarantee the Cashback on this merchant as long as the transaction is valid.0 -
