UK Romantic Weekend Away 20-22nd Nov - suggestions please!

Hello
Me and my boyfriend want to go away for our first weekend away together but not sure where to go! We live in Bedfordshire and want to drive down on the Friday evening, so don't really want to be driving for more than 3 hours.
I came across the Malmaison in Oxford from another thread on here, but can't find a cheap enough deal for that weekend, grr!
I guess our budget is around £100-£120 a night for the room itself, which I know isn't much.
I would really love a room with a bath tub big enough for 2 but not sure if we'll find that on our budget! I like the idea of staying in an old pub/inn so we can have a nice meal and a few drinks then retire to our room
Not fussed about staying in a posh hotel....
Does anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks!
Lea

Bath is beautiful, and theres lots to see.
There is the Thermae spa which you can get a 'twilight package' for in the evening, and theres a rooftop pool which is really romantic in the evening. We went in March, and it actually started snowing when we were in it! lovely!0 -
Sadly I only know the North, but if you were prepared to take the train then may I suggest Chester and/or York?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

I was going to suggest a lighthouse in Newport, South Wales, but sure that would be more than three hours away.
Bath is lovely.
The Malmaison in Oxford looks lovely, too.
Try googling a clipper in Norfolk, possibly near Wells on Sea. I have a friend going there because it was in the good beer guide, and that sounded fantastic.0 -

Hello!
Thanks for your replies. Had a quick look on ebay but couldnt find anything for the dates I need.
Really like the idea of going to the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire or the south coast, does anyone have any more suggestions??
Thanks again!

Husband and I just spent few days here http://www.european-inn.co.uk/ and had a lovely time.
It only has two rooms (we had the Green Room) which had a lovely big claw-footed bath and a separate shower. Not a four-poster but a big bed.
The food is wonderful and they have a long wine list and serve locally-brewed beer. Everything they serve is locally-produced and made.
Rooms are £80 a night per room B&B - such a huge wonderful breakfast we didn't have to eat lunch.
Our bill for 3 nights B&B plus 3 evening meals, drinks etc came to just under £400.0 -
Before I clicked this thread i thought of Bath
We stayed at Pratts, a really nice place to stay.
We just turned up and got a good discount, we paid £60 a night.
Some good restaurants about and good for a walk round as well.
One of my fave places in England.0 -
