Can i get my money back? dodgy website :(

Hiya

Silly me was daft enough to order some ugg boots off what i thought was a genuine website.

The logo, pictures etc all carefully used from genuine ugg pics.

I paid via visa debit which used the verified by visa system. Now my first attempt at paying failed and then my bank was trying to get hold of me to ensure it was me doing the transaction coz payment was going oversea's. (should of been first warning sign really)

Anyway i phoned my bank back they cleared the security so i was able to pay. I even asked the bank am i safe using websites with the verified by visa system as my understanding was that if they use that system they must be legit? They guy said yeh its all good, he even saw the website i was trying to order off and told me how it was a genuine site and his girlfriend had ordered off it. and nope i didnt get his name :(

so silly me paid again.

Now the tracking says the parcel has left 'china' on he 12th but thats all the info i have.
But ive since seen warnings now that this site along with a million others are just fakes or scams etc and they may not turn up, if they do wont be real, might not even be right colour or size etc.

Can i get my money back anyway from bank?

I contacted the site i bought boots off a few days ago asking where they was? got a reply (not good english) basically saying they on way it takes time sorry etc

So silly for using them but when i was searching for a site to buy some off with them coming on one of first ones on google and looking so genuine i got blinded.

  • Hi Ive done the exact same thing. I order from a company called uk-ugg-boots.com and paid by Visa debit, used the secure bank verfied visa system, and have been scammed!!!

The boots were £59.99 inc post and they invoiced me as such, but took £63.99 from my bank. I cancelled the order within the 24 hours that the terms tell you to do and I received an email to say it was cancelled and would be refunded, then to receive an email to say the item has been shipped. I have contact consumer rights and also the judge of the Sunday Mail newspaper.

Has this happened to anyone else?:mad::mad::mad::mad:

    I agree with bbelt.

Why do people not use a credit card when purchasing online?

Contact your bank. if its a visa debit card and you have not recieved the goods that you have ordered. they should be able to chargeback the transaction to the merchants bank on that basis. you should be required to provide the bank documentation etc. they should be able to advise you. I only work with credit cards so unsure of the full process.

    All the best

Not much help if - as in twobigdoggies case - the price of the transaction is under £100. And visa provide the same protection voluntarily for their debit cards as they must do legally for their credit cards.

Well i phoned my bank as like i said i paid via the verified by visa method. They said if they item doesnt turn up within 30days they can chase refund. And also if item isn't as described etc etc then they can too.

I didnt use a credit card as i thought i had/have the same security with the verified by visa system plus my credit cards are on 0% balance and a new purchase on it would be charged at high interest for some time wouldnt it.

2bigdoggies, thats the same site i used. I think you will find its slighter higher amount than it originally said because of the currency conversion rate.
The tracking on my parcel now says its at uk customs. So hopefully will turn up soon just hope it is the right thing i ordered if not then i will pursue with visa.

    Well they arrived today.

They are not 100% sheepskin like the site claims so i've emailed the company asking for a refund, if i dont recieve one in 30days then the bank can pursue for me.
  • those companies are fake

theres some website which can you can use to tell where the website is based
google "who is" and you can easily find out more about the website

to check where the website is based

and if it too good to be true then it probably is
  • Avoid yotops.com at all cost, this is a dodgy website from China, it sends out spam emails promoting cheap products, in fact it is a con.

The fact it is a spam email is enough to prove it is a scam isn't it???

How more obvious would you like it to be??
