Friday 23rd Oct - What small DFW things have you done today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
-
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
Morning everyone

I made it early today - only 'cos we're off shopping today so having an early start!
Not been feeling too good the last few days - chesty cough, headache, nausea and completely worn out....so a day shopping's probably not best but girls are so excited and we're meeting my sis and her daughters.
OK, list for today:
Have a good day all:D

Good Morning

I have to wait in for a plumber today so that's already saved me the cost of travelling to & from work
I shall use by time at home productively by:- cleaning & tidying the flat (once the plumber has gone)

- doing a bit of self-glamourising (as above) as being taken out for dinner later

- researching Christmas presents online

- doing some sort of workout

- food shopping

- having a clear out of at least 2 drawers (total lack of smilies for this one!)

Thank god it's Friday! Late night last night - stayed up to watch Question Time (it's on half hour later here in Wales)....then dear OH and I spent about two hours discussing it.....Oh and then we got onto the `thorny' topic of rugby V football!!!!!! oh dear......
Small things for me today are:
Write letters for bank charges (Alliance and Leicester are seriously doing my head in...)
Write a `to-do' list for next week -such as dying hair, booking leave, re-writing CV etc etc
Bring down the mountain of paperwork in the spare room to sort into my freebie concertina file.
Trawl the freebies section here
Make a meal plan.
Try and work out what wages are coming in this month and what PADs, bills and general debt-busting I should be doing .....
Phew!
Have a fab day everyone

Hi everyone,
I had a moral dilema this morning. After dropping DS1 to school went to co-op and had to get £10 out for essentials. There was a lady in front of me using the ATM and when she left and I read screen it said 'Would you like to do another transaction?' OMG! She hadn't taken her card out and it was giving me the chance to take some free cash! It was so tempting for a few moments and I did carry on to see if it really would give me some (we only have £46 to last us until Wednesday) but couldn't do it. How would I feel if someone did that to me? I said 'no' and got the card back and found her by her car (a big people carrier!). I explained what I had found and that she was lucky it was someone so honest. She just said she was very busy and distracted. A bit of me wishes I had taken some money out, as she didn't seem at all grateful but agghhh what a dilema. I did do the right thing.
I was rewarded, in the Co-op they had 3 packs each with 2 chicken breasts, use by today, reduced from £2.99 to £1.45! Got all three and put 2 in the freezer and will make chicken curry tonight with other!
What would you have done?Debt Free Wannabee No - 12510 -
Hi All, glad to see so many happy DFWer's on here yesterday... sorry didn't have time to post - rather a long day at work... on a brighter note free high quality lunch and snacks throughout the day (I did organise the meeting, so splashed out works money a little!!);)
Today I will:
- Check online banking
- Check Quidco
- Update my Christmas Present List - only 3 to go I think:j
- Update my list for baby items/ household items needed whilst I'm off on maternity... think I'm about there.
- Go to Dunelm that I didn't do the other night and look for a blind pack
- Search on internet to narrow down cotbed searches so when DH and I go tomorrow we don't have to go to EVERY shop that sells them!
- Tea from stores - lamb curry... and there will be enough to freeze for another tea.
- Portion up cooked and stripped chicken and freeze

You definitely did the right thing. Anything else would've been theft, utterly dishonest & you'd have really loathed yourself for doing it.

Thanks Honeybear & MoneySavingKate for assurances that did the right think. Glad you have hot water again Honeybear. Hope it doesn't set you back too much. We had a valve go in our boiler a few weeks ago, no CH or HW, cost us £244!!!
DFW - I'm trying to sell an Ikea kids table and chairs but not having much luck. It's going in local magazine 1st Nov, if still no luck then I'll put it on e-bay.Debt Free Wannabee No - 12510 -
skintnutta - have you tried gumtree.com for the table? It is free to list and I got rid of a toaster and a microwave to people who picked them up and paid a fair price. Also, the toaster man brought over a bottle of wine, result!Debt Free Wannabe: Natwest OD 2: [STRIKE]£400[/STRIKE] £100, Virgin Credit Card: [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE] £1,500, Loan from Uncle: [STRIKE]£400[/STRIKE] PAID!, Natwest OD 1: £1,000 Total: [STRIKE]£3,400[/STRIKE] £2850
