in Credit cards
Hi everybody,
I, recently got a letter from halifax one, saying that I'd defaulted on a payment which I wasnt aware of. Basically, on the 15th of september I paid £50 on my banks website (halifax) and on the 16th of september they generated the new bill (I didnt realise I'd actually paid it early), but thinking I had already paid the bill already, I didnt pay anything more for that month until october.
I phoned them up to explain what had happened and it was a genuine mistake and that I didnt mind paying the £12 late payment fee, I just wanted the default removed from my credit records, they claim it is impossible to do this, and would only do so if it was their error.
I went on to explain that it was because of their misleading website that I handnt paid any extra money (when I logged on after the 16th of sept, it showed the date of when the money was due (12th of october), and not when then money was due after for the previous month... if that makes any sense?)
The woman on the phone wouldn't have any of it, even though, as I explained I only paid money into the account, once a month, every month. She used the fact that I paid 3 times in one month when I first got the card as further reason not to remove the default from my file.
To be honest, I really annoyed that I've had this default, and the credit card company/bank were totally uninterested in helping me, especially after I've worked really hard over the last 8 years to improve my credit ratings.
Just wondering if anyone had any help or suggestions?
Thanks
(sorry for the long ranty post)

You wont have a default for missing one months payment. Are you referring to a record of late payment?0
