Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any views on either of the above. Which is the better - Creative or iRiver? (On Dabs there isn't much difference in price between the 6gb & 20gb so if they are the same I would be better getting the bigger one, wouldn't I?)

Also, apologies for a daft question, but how are they charged up? Late last night when I was searching for info/prices on them I think I came across mention that the iRiver has to be charged from a PC. Is this correct? Is it the same for the Creative Zen? What happens if you take them away on holiday, how can you charge them, then?

What is the FM radio like on both of these?

Lastly, anyone know of any good deals on either of these. I have looked at the usual price comparison sites.

Many thanks for any help or advice anyone can give me. (MPs are new territory for me! These are for a very belated Christmas/birthday present for my teenage twin sons.)

    Hi,
My son has a Creative Zen Micro (5GB and only 3GB used) and is very pleased with it. He says the sound is better than the Ipods he has tried at school (lights the blue touchpaper and steps back). Don't know about the Iriver ones though.
Check out the 8GB zen micro photo because last time I looked they were cheaper than the 6GB or 5GB zen micros.

Many thanks for that info. Could anyone confirm how the iRiver H10 is charged. Can that, too, be charged via the mains.

    Hi
I have the Iriver H140, had it about 2yrs now, battery's waning a bit, only get about 8-10hrs on it now, I guess I'll have to replace it soon.
Excellent mp3 player/radio/recorder etc, lots of features, and solidly built, dropped it, bashed it, all to no effect, carries on regardless.
Mine is charged from the mains, not sure about the H10

Apologies gave you the wrong link, to Amazon, check out the Tech Data

I am a happy Zen Owner. It's got some good features such as voice recorder, you can synch your Outlook contacts and calender to it.

One tip before you load anything onto it: make sure you upgrade the firmware to the latest from Creative. Often the preloaded software will be an older version. For example the latest firmware allows the Zen to USB charge off any computer where previously it could only charge from a computer with Creative Software installed.

At the same time dowmload the latest PC software for the Zen from Creative...for the same reasons you need the latest to ensure the two are compatible.

I picked uo a Zen for my Mum for £89.99 so there are bargains if you are eagle eyed!
