Eyeshadow help please!

I'm trying to learn more with makeup techniques and move away from a couple of colours that I have, and i've seen people doing photoshoots in eyeshadows that last vivid and bright for hours, mine never seems to last that long, and I don't want to risk changing to different colours, just to have it all fade rapidly.
What sorts of eyeshadows are really long lasting? After a shade of blue, as it goes well with eyeliner, i'd love to get looks like this:

Are there any brands to look out for, or places to visit etc etc? Thankyou

Have you tried MAC? They have some really strong vibrant shades and can help you use them!0

I like to wear really bold eye shadow and I like urban decay for it's glittery effect that lasts, and I also like Barry M for it's bright colours. I actually prefer the much cheaper barry M for the colour, and longevity than Mac, which is lovely, but I find you have to layer it up quite a bit to get a real bright colour that stays put, though my eyes can 'take' a lot of colour. I also really like Lush' sister companies make up range 'B beautiful' they have some lovely colours that come out really bright!0

I've heard about Lush makeup before, there's a store in London, so I need to find it. I used to (going back 8 years ago!!) have a palette of glittery bold eyeshadows i got in a pound shop, they wern't powder, more like lipgloss, which were fantastic, but not spied anything like it. Using Boots no7 metallic blue eyeliner was great for trying to use as shadow, but took ages, and was uncomfortable.
I'll give Urban decay, and other brands mentioned here, a try. Powders never seem to last long when I try them, which bothers me slightly

Forget about Never B. They are closing down, its even up on their website.
You must use an eyelid primer to keep the shadow fresh.
Cheaper brands will not give the colour hit you see in the pan unless you layer it on, use loads more.
Illimasque now in Debenhams have really vivid colours.0 -
it's really a shame they're going isn't it?donnac2558 wrote: »Forget about Never B. They are closing down, its even up on their website.
they had some really beautiful & interesting products
my daughter used to work for Lush & all the staff & ex-staff members stocked up on their favourite B products when they heard the sad news
another vote for the Barry M eyeshadows, they have some spectacular colours & they last well
and they don't test on animals :T0 -
Try using an eyeshadow base to make your eyeshadow last longer and more vibrant.
Good ones are Too Faced Shadow Insurance or Urban Decay Primer Potion.
I also watch videos on Youtube for makeup tutorials for different looks and tips.
One of my favourite gurus on there is Emily. Her channel 'Beauty Broadcast' is excellent and has lots of makeup and hair tips! http://www.youtube.com/user/emilynoel830 -
Definitely agree with this. You definitely need an eyeshadow base. I use the Too Faced one and think it is great (the Urban Decay dried my lids out). It is a bit pricey (I think about £12) but it is cheaper than throwing out all your eyeshadows and starting again!Try using an eyeshadow base to make your eyeshadow last longer and more vibrant.

I'll second the Urban Decay range...lovely colours ranging from vibrant to subtle (but even the subtle are still "strong") and they last really, really well. Am very impressed with them, even if they're not all that cheap. lol.0

Never really got on with Urban Decay but I'm a big fan of Bourjois and have worn Barry M since I discovered it back in the 1980's.
I'm currently loving Revlon's Matte range of eyeshadow. The Venetian Blue is a stunning vibrant turquoise shade that stays on really well and attracts lots of complements. The Tempting Teal is gorgeous, too.
