Disputing A Driving Offence Ticket

Hi,

Speaking to a friend the other day and he is a former police officer claims I should strongly dispute my ticket to avoid a £30 fine. I was in a bus lane but then went into the car lane, which the police spotted and got a ticket. Thing is people behind me and in front of me didn't get a ticket just a warning. I said sorry I was late for work but was harsh on me. I did get back into lane. How come others were let off and I wasn't?? colour of my skin??

Anyone successfully got rid of paying for a minor offence?

  • So this was a police FPN and not a council pcn. If so AFAIK its a straight to magistrates court or pay the FPN. Maggies is a crap shoot at best of times and its more likely they will believe a copper than a civilian.

Does a fisherman catch all the fish?

That excuse isn't a defence. Only proof that the contravention didn't take place is a defence.
  • sorry to say this but you will get slaughtered in the magistrates court, as they hate time wasters and you will end up with a more hefty fine plus costs. The police can only catch one fish at a time and you were their catch of the day. Unlucky, but lucky it was not in london's red lanes as you get 3 points and £60. Pay it and forget it is my advice.

No he wasnt harsh on you. You were committing a moving traffic offence,he detected it and issued you with a ticket. With the best will in the world ,one copper cant ticket loads of people at the same time. Did you look to your right and see all the honest, law abiding folk driving in the proper lane? If so,why did you think you or your journey was particularly special?

I believe we car drivers should campaign against buses and taxies and no right or left turns. We drivers are being kicked off the roads high tax and everything its a disgrace.

    Campaign away.

But remember to pay your fine first.

It is not by a fine, that is certain.

I do agree with you that bus lanes should be abolished. They are actually reserving strips of public roads, funded by taxpayers,to facilitate the running of bus services which, whilst used by taxpayers, are there run by private companies for private profit.

I stand corrected - thank you.

And when I posted above I did mean that the OP should indeed campaign.

Or we could run just run the buses publicly (in a way) like London.
