Halifax Fixed ISA

I've used my ISA allowance for 2006/2007 to open a NSI account. I have a Halifax cash ISA which I have not funded since 2002. Does anybody know if I can transfer the balance of this Halifax cash ISA account to their Fixed ISA in the current tax year ?

Just to clarify, are you saying that you have an existing Halifax cash ISA from a previous tax year and you would like them to convert it into their fixed rate ISA?

If so, yes you can. The quickest way to do this, is to make an appointment to see a personal banker at a branch local to you. They ask you to sign a couple of forms to confirm that you wish to fix your mini cash ISA. It's then done. Although, your ISA won't show as being fixed when you view it online, until the next day.

I know that fixing your ISA can be done over the phone, but I've been told that this can sometimes take longer(?). I fixed mine in the branch, and was able to take the paperwork away with me, but it's up to you.

I've heard that the fixed rate will be reduced from 5% soon, so you'll have to hurry.
