I've tried to contact her but to no avail. Changes numbers every week it seems. I am worried that if I phone them then I will be lumbered with the lot. I'm prepared to put forward an agreement for my half. I'm so niave I just left the house and have basically buried my head in the sand. Been trying to earn money to survive.

Unfortunatly if they have your details they will hound you for the full amount.

Give one of the debt charities a ring in the morning and get some professional help.

If they suggest BR then we can help and support you through it. If they suggest a DMP then pop on to the Debt Free Wanabe board and chat with them.

nothing will surprise me anymore, but its unlikely they will settle for 'your share'

they will most likely want it all from you, more so if they can not trace your ex (which it sounds like they wont, this may be why she is changeing her number so often:rolleyes:)

I think the first thing to do is find out if they are acting as agents, or own the debt,

It may be worth playing dumb to get some more info, and denying any knowledge of the debt.

So, have you contacted them yet? if so i need to know what has been said so far.
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

No I haven't contacted them yet, there site says no debt recovered no fee so I think they are agents.
  • Dont ring them, they can deny it later, never ever deal with a Debt collection agency on the Phone, do it in writing only;)

I will draft something for you to send, Shame there is a postal strike though:p

Dont panic, you have plenty of time to deal with this, nothing will happen over night

And i would not take any notice of what there site says, it may be they are just acting as agents, if so that helps, as they hvae no legal powers without GE:D

The first thing we need to do is find out where you stand, without admitting liabilaty.

Give me a day or two to draft something to send them.

  • Oh, i forgot, how did they contact you, was it by letter or phone?

I am assumeing they have contacted you directly

If you can fill in the blanks how you found out they where after you it will help

Can you scan a copy and post it?, blank anything that may identify you of course (referance numbers, barcodes etc)

It may help, it makes it easier if i (you) know the wording of what i (you) are responding too, but dont worry if you cant
