Yes, they usually take it off the cost of the final bill, if you have more credit than the cost of the final bill it should be returned to you by cheque after you have changed suppliers.

Some suppliers are quicker than others at doing this though so be prepared as you may have to a little chasing up.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Got my gas credit back almost immediately from Scot Power when I switched recently but had to chase up twice to get my electricity credit back.

    Hi Gilb

If your ScottishPower account has been closed to the meter readings provided by your new supplier (EDF), then any credit balance should be returned to you by cheque. The refund cheque payments may take up to 10 working days to receive.

Refund cheques can be held if the account is finalised to an estimated meter reading and we are still waiting for an accurate reading being provided by the new supplier.

If you want to PM me your details I can look at the account for you and confirm the current situation.

    Kind Regards

  • I have had the same issue as brewerdave above: ScottishPower returned my gas credit immediately but three weeks later I am still waiting for the electricity credit. I was on an online account which I no longer have, how do I contact them?

The nightmare of being a ScottishPower customer never seems to end!

or just go onto scottishpower website under domestic section and find customer services for existing customers
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
