Well I decided not to complete their form, instead I included all of the information in a letter.

However, the address they gave for me to send the latter to did not exist in Royal Mail's system - so I've yet to establish an accurate address for their SAR request team.

Having recently had swine flu, it made me laugh when I read the letter and saw they had me down as making a "Sars request" - I dont really want that one, or bird flu for that matter!

Oh dear, hope your feeling better now hun.......

I remember posting a letter to Endeavour personal finance, a good while back and this was on recorded delivery, when the postmaster gave me the receipt I did note that it was sent to an HFC department, I think they just type in the postal code and if the details have changed it automatically comes up on their machine, well that is what I did think......

Well the second letter still hasn't reached the destination - anyone would think they (HFC) are trying to make it difficult for people to get through to them!

My SAR info arrived today - lots of A4 sheets, about an inch thick.

Many hours of reading ahead of me now!

Well, after a few hours reading and much head scratching I think I have found something interesting.

HFC's letter says they have located 2 loan accounts, one of which was settled in 2005, for which they have sent all of the paperwork, including the agreement where I firmly scrubbed out the pre-ticked box for PPI.

The letter says they were unable to find the agreement for the other loan but they have included other information - which shows that there was PPI on it.

Isnt it strange how they find the paperwork for the loan without PPI but cant find it for the more recent loan with PPI !!!

It will take a little more head scratching because the paperwork seems incomplete and I have no idea how much the PPI was - The loan was for £14,500 though so it wont be insignificant.

Yes that is right, I agree.

However you could write and question them on this if you wanted to, you do not pay out anything further, but if you feel you have not been provided with everything and something is amiss, let them know this and ask that they send ALL of everything they hold on you.
Give them 7 days maximum, you can always tell them as well that you will consider contacting the Information commissioners office (ICO) to complain and advice if anything is being witheld.

    Well, I'm glad I SAR'd HFC.

They also run the GM Credit Card which I had from 2002 to 2006 and the statements turned up today - turns out that I was paying PPI on that as well, even though I never knew I had been!

It only amounts to about £50 including interest but I've sent my complaint to them anyway.

Had a nice letter from HFC today, refunding me the PPI plus 8% interest for the loan they diddnt send me the paperwork for!

Obviously they have the details in their system somewhere or how else would they have calculated the figure?

    Anyway, I'm happy!
