Frozen milk in luggage ?

Hi, we are flying off on holiday and my wife wants to take milk with her as she and the kids just won't use milk when we are abroad.
She is going to freeze it and put it in our luggage, I don't think it is a good idea as I think it is quite likely to burst with the low pressure in the hold, does anyone here have any idea's if it will or has anyone tried doing this ?

you need to check the restrictions on taking dairy products abroad. i know theres a tv ad about restricted items comming into the uk but im not sure about the other way. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I am sure they sell English Milk like Cravendale abroad, I have seen it in Spain anyway....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Not sure why your kids won't drink milk abroad. Apart from being skimmed, semi, etc, milk is milk, isn't it...?

Anyway, it will very much depend on where you are going. For example, you cannot bring dairy products into the UK from outside the EU, so I expect the reciprocal rule will probably apply going the other way. I think that you should be ok within the EU though.
For example: from Virgin Atlantic website:
"IF YOU'RE TRAVELLING WITHIN THE EU
You can bring in any meat, dairy or other food products, as long as they are free from diseases and for your own consumption."

I suggest you check the specific regulations for where you are going. No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
I suggest that you NEVER try to take any diary products abroad. I think if you get stopped you will always get questioned. Especially if it is weird which taking a frozen milk I would say is highly suspicous.
I also suggest that your wife needs to see a doctor. I am sure they can help her.0 -
Obviously depends on where you are going, I know spain and its islands sell 'normal' cows milk that tastes the same as here. If she is that fussy take powdered milk, imagine the smell if it does burst or luggage gets lost........0

.....
To answer the question being asked ..... As long as the container itself is sound, there will not be a problem as the milk defrosts, however, as the container needs to be sound, I would take tetrapak cartons and not those awful leaky plastic milk bottles you get in supermarkets these days.
I've carried all sorts of liquids in my hold luggage including tetrapaks with liquids many times and tetrapaks with liquids freeze well without bursting.

Tell the kids to stop being so fussy, they're on holiday! The milk isn't going to kill them!0

On a practical note, the holds of modern aircraft are pressurised the same as the cabin. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Thanks for all the answers, I'll keep trying to persuade her it's a bad idea ! Unfortunately she is incredibly fussy and I've tried time and again to convince her that stuff like this is fine. I've only told the half of it as I'm sure she is planning to take one suitcase just full of food. I'm now at the point where I just let her pack as long as I don't have to do any of it because it used to make me soooooo cross seeing what she was packing and we would end up arguing and ruining the start of the holiday...0

Have you taken travelling time to airport. How many hours before check in ?Then flight time. By the time you get there should imagine it would be defrosted anyway. Buy it when you get there.,0
