I'm trying to ascertain whether when joining the forces you automatically join the applicable pension scheme.
Does anyone know where I should direct my question ?
The person was a full time soldier who joined for 3 years at a time before during and after the Falklands conflict.

You are enroled on the Forces pension upon joining, unless you specifically opt out.John

The person would have served for 3 years around 1982 and would have automatically been in AFPS 75 pension scheme unless as previously stated they opted out.
On leaving they should have been informed of their pension allowance which would be payable on reaching age 55.
A service charity like the Forces Pension Society (try googling forces pension society (sorry I'm new and not allowed to post links)) would be more than happy to give them advice on how to find out their entitlement and how to claim.0
