can anyone please help, after workin for my employer between his 2 businesses for 2years(practically running 1 of them) when i told him i was pregnant he completely changed as he thought he would be payin me out of his own pocket but after i told him that he wouldnt he seemed ok. i had to cut my hours of work (from 40-50 to 25-30) as i had a few complications but then i was told my dates were wrong and i was due 3weeks earlier than i had told them, after being rushed to hospital via an ambulance i was told i had to take maternity leave then as the baby was under developed, my employer agreed as long as i could provide the ambulance report to which i did. he then paid me 3weeks smp but then stopped, his manager told me he sold the business and that i wasnt getting any more smp, so i had to claim income support, i informed thr hmrc and after 11 long months i have been told he still should of been paying me and that he has 30 days in which to do so, does this mean i have to pay back all income support i recieved in one go?

You should get legal advice. I don't understand why companies are complete a%%. SMP is claimed back via the company and does'nt actually come from the company. They just could'nt be bothered carrying out the necessary forms. Idiots.

I couldn't agree more.
Speak to the DWP/Job centre plus about the circumstances surrounding your claim for income support and they should be able to advice you on what to do.

You should get the best advice you can CAB or Welfare Benefits Rights preferably...this !!! has caused you some serious grief in return for loyalty hasn't he?
Hate to mention this, but did you get any council tax benefit being on IS ? I ask this because even though it's not your doing...if the JC want the IS back..you may not have been eligible for that benefit and they tell the council straight away ..and they send a bill then too.
It maybe that you didn't get any, or that your'e eligible for it anyway if you did...but best to ask someone really in the know like WBR who can negotiate on your behalf better then you can.
This happened to me in a slightly different situation and wasn't a nice surprise at all...I didn't know they informed the council let alone how fats they did it, and it was the JC made the error in the forst place ...WBR were invaluable sorting it out and very nice understanding people too.
Are you sure he isn't lying about selling the business? If he is..he's broken the law and owes you compensation. HE sounds very shady.
