Thank you all
and congrats ickle!
I tried changing the title of the thread so I can keep writing about what's coming next, rather than start a new thread each time, but no luck - how do I go about it?
I got back into town yesterday and to my complete surprise found the OR pack waiting for me! It was sent Monday 26/10 (that's 2 working days after BR). It had a letter in with my interview date and time (2/11), various leaflets, the three things I had been told I need to return - NTB2 form (T&C of BR, signed and witnessed), an ethnic monitoring form and the TNIDIS (Tax & National Insurance Disclosure Form) presumably to apply the NIL tax code, plus a comments & suggestions card.
I've been asked to provide nothing in the letter. I only have CC, CT & overdraft debt and am not self employed, so I assume they will get all the info they need themselves. I'm guessing they're speeding through this because it's a simple case, which puts me at ease somewhat. The letter said to have my SOA handy and be ready to answer questions. Also, the call will be from someone in the OR's office, not the OR themselves.
Time and date were good and I sent all they needed back yesterday so I'm just waiting (and hope the post gets there eventually). Now to see if they'll be generous with the IPA (what I've asked for puts me in 60%, but I can see how they may push it to 66% if they were feeling ungenerous). I suppose it does no harm to say my OR's office is Hull - does anyone have experience with them?
Meanwhile, I've had the pleasure of personally telling 3 CCs that I'm BRand looking myself up on the London Gazette website - my OH thinks I should order a copy and frame it.

If it won't let you do it by editing the first post, then let me know what you want to change it to and I'll sort it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hello :-) first of all congrats on your positive attitude and how you're handling all of this. I hope I stay as strong as you sound!!
I wanted to ask about your IPA and you saying what you've asked for puts you in 60%. What did you mean by that? Did you mean that the surplus you've allowed is high enough that you think they'll take 60%? I'm assuming so. And that you think they'll reduce your expenses so that you'll have more surplus, thus taking you up to the 66% IPA?
Is there a detailed scale somewhere of what percentage you'll get hit with depending on amount of surplus? If you think you're going to pay 60% I'm assuming you've got a fair sum left over? What's the max % you can be forced to give over?
Thanks :-)

It's different for everyone, but best of luck and try to think ahead!

Yes, exactly that.

Phil probably PMed you, but it's:
£100 to £240 - 50%
£250 to £340 - 60%
£350 to £490 - 66%
£500 to £600 - 70%
Not sure what happens after £600.
Thanks :-)

Hey everyone
Had OR interview this morning. Didn't speak to the actual case worker (assistant of some kind?) so the 'straightforward' theme continues. He basically went through the SOA with me (including name, address etc). When we got to reasons for BR I went on and I don't think he cared about an accurate record - just wanted to put something down. In the end he said he was going to write 'living beyond means' and 'accumulated interest' which wasn't accurate, but whatever, I don't suppose it matters.
This is what I was allowed -
Household Information
Number of adults in household........... 1
Monthly Income Details
Monthly income after tax................ 1258
Total monthly income.................... 1258
Monthly Expense Details
Rent.................................... 400
Council tax............................. 57
Electricity............................. 79
Water rates............................. 18
Telephone (land line)................... 45
Groceries etc. ......................... 200 - from £220
Clothing................................ 30 - from £50
Other travel............................ 30
Medical (prescriptions, dentist etc).... 20
Contents insurance...................... 14
Haircuts................................ 12
Holiday................................. 40
Dry cleaning............................ 6
Total monthly expenses.................. 951
He said the national average for Housekeeping was £181 (and for clothes £20+), but he was leaving me with the £200 because I'd put down £220. So just PUT MORE!!! It's doesn't hurt. Don't go crazy, but push it whenever you can. He didn't query anything else or take anything off. At my current income this puts the IPA at 60% which is what I was hoping for. I can actually live off what I'll be left with happily and could possibly start thinking of moving into a better flat or - gasp! - buying a car after discharge. Who'd have thought I'd ever be able to afford these things.
He also told me ED was a possibility after 6-8 months, but have to go to court and pay £60 for a certificate (!?). I asked about how long it'd take Moon Beever to get in touch re IPA and apparently they've got less of a backlog now, but it might still take a while. I plan on saving the IPA money (along with the tax of course) and suggesting a lump sum to cover past months so I can get the 36 months out of the way sooner. Hopefully they'll accept it.
That's all I can think of for now. So glad this is over with.BR 22/10/2009 ED 08/07/20100 -
