Local gossip I guess, we live in a fairly small town but either way I don't think gossip really matters.
We are definitely going to complain, my stepdad flat out told the vet an apology wasn't going to bring Lucky back so it wasn't good enough. Just waiting to get a letter back from the vets explaining what happened now, the vets are aware that it'll be collected in person so they can't blame postal strikes etc, will just have to see what RCVS does after that.0
