Jan 1st 2008 -Dec 31st 2008 I made them £226,589 net profit. I earned around £32,000 appx out of this.

When you say "earned" was this entirely off your own back with no support at all?

I've no idea, but imagine the joy just half an hour ago when I logged onto my google account to check out the income from my latest income stream... yes, a whole £1. Now, what will I spend it on.

The most I ever made (to my knowledge) a client of mine was £450k of bookings, which took me (in complete total) about £3k of their advertising budget and 3 months of my work at £1000 (part-time obviously). They were so pleased ... they were fully booked and cancelled the contract :(

  • I never made any money for any of the companies I have worked for - I was an overhead. The only people who actually contributed to the company profits were those directly employed in manufacturing the product - and the sales people who sold it.

I was an industrial engineer - so I did contribute to the profitability of the company through cost savings in production layout, efficient working methods and savings in materials etc - by working out the opitimum size of material delivery and being able to reduce inventory etc, etc, etc. I also knew the gross cost of employing people - when you included company benefits it was actually quite expensive.

OH works in air traffic - safety is more important than making money in their job.

DH runs/creates the training programme of a large part of the business for a major company.

Saves them a huge amount in litigation costs.

Years ago I used to earn under £16k(after commission) but used to clear over £300K GP for the company. That was 20% of revenue and profit for the company.
I was just happy to work, what a stupid !!!!!! I was. :)

I can save the company I work for over £100,000 for fixing a single problem in a single day - only thing is, so can most of the team I work in.

We're there to mitigate loss, not make a profit for the company.

    The results so far:-

    I make a loss for my company bar2-l.gifbar2.gifbar2-r.gifclear.gif5 13.89%
    £0-999pa bar3-l.gifbar3.gifbar3-r.gifclear.gif1 2.78%
    £1,000-9,999 bar4-l.gifbar4.gifbar4-r.gifclear.gif0 0%
    £10,000-99,999 bar5-l.gifbar5.gifbar5-r.gifclear.gif16 44.44%
    £100,000+ bar6-l.gifbar6.gifbar6-r.gifclear.gif14 38.89%

    Either:
    (a) the sample is biased.
    (b) UK PLC is in better shape than it first appears.
    (c) we're all a little bunch of liars. :)

I am a loss maker. I typically burn 60-120 tonnes of fuel in a day, so I dont come cheap either. However, my job ensures the company doesnt lose assets, valued between 30-200 million a piece.
