Tried to swap gas & electric to them. All online stuff ok then got a letter asking me to contact them( 0845 0760514, premium rate no) and was told because one is not at work due to illness they wanted £150.00 upfront or DD payment. So if you,re ill & not working don,t let them know.

Why is that a problem? Why not just sign up to Direct Debit payments if you are not happy to pay a deposit? They have cheap rates for many people. Why should this be jeopardised by giving away credit to uncreditworthy customers?
You should be happy that they are wanting to protect their prices for good customers. Is that not in your interest?

... 0845 0760514, premium rate no...
If you call from a BT landline it'll either be free (depending on your calling plan) or cheaper than a geographical number...they wanted £150.00 upfront or DD payment...
If that's the case, are you aware they'll pay interest on that deposit equivilent to Barclays Bank Base Rate at time of asking?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Not good advice IMO, most companies run credit checks, if you lie this will show up on any future credit checks as the information will be held by the credit checking company (Experian or whoever)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I don't remember ebico asking questions about my employment/salary or personal medical history when I signed up for them online.
Have they changed their online application form? I doubt it."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
