My partner has just finished her bankruptcy, is it possible for them to be added to my exsisting mortgage and deeds? They are a mature student who currently does not have any income.

Why do you want to do this, it will cost money.

I don't think being jointly responsible for a debt with a bankrupt would make me feel financially secure lol!

Can't see your lender being happy with that. They don't like newly discharged bankrupts

Financially linking yourself with a person who has been bankrupt will destroy your credit rating. It would be a very bad move as you would both be unable to obtain any credit for years.

Write a Will if financial security is the issue. If you want your partner to have the property on your death, make sure you are insured for enough to pay off the mortgage.
  • Thanks for the responses. Can they be added to the deeds of the house without being added to the mortgage?
  • Sounds like your under the thumb big time. Until she pay's her way why should she benift from a "break-up" if it happens and take half your house that you have paid for...... Likewise until she gets an income just make a will.

Cliff & suicide comes to mind with joint mortgage.

If at all possible avoid ANY financial links. It will screw up your credit rating.

Very much doubt any lender will go for that.

not sure what good it does.

What are you actualy trying to do? what senarios are you trying to cover protect , death, splitting up what?

financial and personal security are fairly meaningless.

There may be other options to achieve the same goal.
