Any advice on fares Redhill - Chesterfield

Hi there

My 15-year-old daughter has to make a return journey from Redhill (Surrey) to Chesterfield, going out on 30 Oct and back on 1 Nov. I have looked this up online and got a fare of £48.50 return, which seems extremely expensive, especially for a child! Can anyone suggest a way of doing it cheaper?

The times I found were leaving Redhill 2.37pm on Friday (with 2 changes) and returning 2.34 on Sunday (one change).

Thanks

  • I can see a fare for £36.35 that is available.. There are no advance singles for the return journey that i can see unless its really late and you dont want that for your child..

on national rails website... Use advance search and then enter times at 10am for both journeys and 0 adults 1 child and then the results will show when check fares.

  • £42.50 is the 'Off Peak Return', £36.35 is the 'Super Off Peak Return', the super off peak return is restricted during evening rush hour which is why it doesn't show when you select a journey in the afternoon.
