I would think so Royal Mail were not on strike last week.
There's blissful ignorance... CWU members of RM have been striking at different mail centres on different days around the country since the end of July... There's hardly been two consectutive working days when there has been no walk outs at all.
London and Bristol have been badly hit and Stoke on Trent were permanently on strike from mid-August to early September... There were millions of letter/parcels held up in backlogs even before the national strikes started.
Also within UK, unless Special Delivery is used, there is no guaranteed delivery timescale for anything sent via RM. First Class, Second Class, Recorded Delivery it doesn't matter; though they have a 'target aim' of delivering within x days, it isn't guaranteed.
It's actually ironic that, because RM usually (in most cases) do such a good job, many people are completely oblivious to the fact that delays can and do happen - even to the point of believing that because they have continued to receive a pile of mail that it is simply not possible that any item coming their way might get delayed....
It also does not simply depend upon where you live. Any item of mail can go through several different mail centres before it reaches your local one so if there is or has been a localised strike at any of the mail centres between the sender and the recipient then a delay could occur. The mail centres and staff at either end may be perfect but your letter/parcel could still end up delayed because of a problem somewhere in the middle.
The sooner everyone realises the mail has been stumbling along for months the sooner everyone will make their voices heard that this mess has to be resolved now!
