Faulty goods

I am sure that will be for goods in good condition,so if they are disputing this,it will not help.
Excuse me but I think you may be mistaken. The guidance (http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/oft698.pdf) doesn't say anything about the DSRs not applying if the goods are faulty, and the guidance does specifically say that there's no link between the right to cancel under the DSRs and the resaleability (or otherwise) of the returned goods. What it does say is that if the goods are faulty the retailer can't charge for their return.
(Edit: Does that mean that if the OP cancels under the DSRs the retailer is not liable for the cost of returning the canopy? I don't know)
The best thing would be for the OP to check with Consumer Direct to find out for sure whether they can use the DSRs.0
