Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. The theory test is 99% common sense, just look at stuff as you are out and about and take notes of different signs you see0 -
Hi,
I passed my theory test exam 2 months back on the first attempt. You have got sufficient time but you need to start preparing now.
Buy books / CDs or go online for preparation, mainly whatever suits you the most. I would prefer going online or buy a CD. It helps in taking innumerable practice tests. Concentrate on HPT section more. But overall dont be nervous, u will pass through..

Just read the highway code and understand it. It's quite straightforward but some of the questions in the theory test are asked in quite a strange manner.
Things like stopping distances are completely irrelevant, I learned them to pass my test as just numbers that have to relevance in the real world.0 -
This may sound silly, but I have always found a good learning method is index cards or post-it notes.
Index cards with the question on the front, and answer on the reverse. Test yourself, then mix them all up and keep learning. Before bed is good, sticks in your mind ( does for me anyhow )
Post it notes, in the bathroom, everywhere. These are good for symbols or signs

I used the official DVLA DVD and found it really helpful, especially for the hazard perception part. It mean you can get used to how the test works on-screen and how the questions are phrased, as well as learning your Highway Code.
If you don't want to spend the money on buying it, ask your local library if they have it for you to borrow.
Good luck

Don't be nervous. As long as you have reasonable road sense and common sense its easy. Just do a few practice tests as suggested to get used to the question style, to find the answer to the odd weird question they throw in and to get used to the 'anti cheating' mechanism in the hazard perception.0
