I am a very trustworthy stallholder, along with a number of others on the NI Craft Fair thread on MSE, and we all love a good craft fair that is a reasonable price, pay on the day (Avoids any "confusion"), warm, comfy, and well advertised event.
We have had some horrific experiences in the last year, just go on to the craft forum and read them - stolen goods, events in carparks in the rain, still open to the parking public, no tea and coffee provided in 8 hours, no heating, and the best one of all "whoops we forgot to advertise it" after we have driven 3 hours to get to the event....so there are two sides to every story.
I love to support events by holding a stall, I am not money grabbing nor only looking out for myself, I wouldnt dream of anyone else touching my goods to set them up (no-one could set them up exactly how I want them!!) and there is quite a large group of us now in NI that has a good laugh with each other and the organisers of the events. If any of you would like a group of us caring, friendly, and supportive stallholders to come along to an event, please don't hesitate to ask!!
Supermum- I just wish you were closer to London- We definitely need more of you here!
I really couldn't rely on pay on the day though- after having 3 different stall holders say things like "I posted the cheque" (which never arrived) "I'll drop it off tomorrow" (followed by "I'll drop it off on Monday/tuesday/next week") and "can I pay on the night, I'm definitely coming" all 3 of those have dropped out!
No doubt there are some equally shabby organisers out there- Car parks in the rain and stolen goods  there's no way I'd stand for any of that! I hope you all got some kind of compensation!0 -
btw- does anyone know is there anywhere on MSE where I can advertise my event?
There's so many rules about what can and can't be posted and where that I really can't keep track!0 -
Sometimes events are posted on this board, with the link to the charity or their registered charity number. Sometimes they go on the England board, to attract a local crowd.
I'll be honest, and say that neither of those are particularly 'busy' boards, so please don't rely on MSE! Facebook and Twitter are likely to work better ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
