my sister & i have got our mum & ourselves tickets to see cats at the king's theatre in glasgow in november to celebrate our mum's 60th. we'd like to take her somewhere to get pampered during the day & then out for dinner somewhere nice before going to the show in the evening. we don't know glasgow all that well & would love any ideas for where to go. for the pampering - facials/massage/jacuzzi etc would all be nice & for dinner we all like italian. we'll be driving through, so places near-ish to the king's theatre would be preferable so we don't have to keep trying to find somewhere to park!

goes without saying any money-saving ideas also appreciated!

thanks

We ate at Bella Italia in Glasgow, really nice ambiance, and cost absolutely zilch!! Used Tesco clubcard vouchers for the £40 and £2.50 of Luncheon Vouchers!! ;):D

Sannino Pizzeria on Bath St is pretty yummy and reasonably priced too. One of the few restaurants that we actually keep going back to. Its kinda at the other end of Bath St to the Kings though. Weve also been to Fratelli Sarti. also on Bath St, once and it was very nice too. The Hilton on William St and the Marriott on Argyle St ( both pretty close to the Kings ) both have spas. Not sure what prices would be like for non guests but im sure its worth a look.

thanks both of you - hadn't thought of bella italia - i just changed my clubcard vouchers for days out tokens for the summer holidays, but i'm sure i'll have loads more by november :) i'll have a look at the hilton & marriott to see what i can find out about their spas. thinking about all these italian restaurants is making me hungry!

    thanks again

just got a copy of the spa tariff for the hilton - omg!!!!! we could just about send our mum for a treatment or two (a half day would be nice - £135!!!), but my sister & i would just have to sit outside twiddling our thumbs, i think!!

anyone got any ideas of how to reduce the cost? there are places we've been to nearer to home where you can just pay to use the facilities for a day/half day & then add in a treatment if you like. it works out much cheaper than the packages they usually offer. doea anyone know if there's anywhere in glasgow that does something similar? that way my sister & i could just use the facilities & we could afford a bit extra to get our mum a treatment.

    thanks again for your help!

    Hi Kizatt

    I hope this helps.

I have found these Marriot Pamper Day Packages for £79 per person which includes two treatments and full use of the Leisure Facilities.

    http://www.exhilaration.co.uk/Spa/Spa_days/Marriott_Pamper_Day

    http://www.virginexperiencedays.co.uk/experiences/marriott-pamper-day.html

(If you use the Virgin one you also get 6% cashback from Greasypalm)

As Emms says - the Marriott is within walking distance of the Kings Theatre so no need to move the car when you go.

I have never used them before so can't recommend them or otherwise but it might be worth making enquiries.

I would also recommend Sanninos and if you don't want to walk from the other end of Bath Street, they also have a smaller, restaurant in Elmbank Street which is just across the road from the Kings - I have no idea of distances but it must be less than fifty yards from door to door.

Have a good time and I'm sure your mum will have a lovely birthday.

Hi Kizatt, I would highly recommend this web site www.5pm.co.uk They do discounted meals and pamper days at various venues. It is free to join and they pre book everything on your behalf they must make their money by finding customers. I've used them for dining and was delighted with the service hope this helps shrewdal

looks like you can't use clubcard vouchers at bella italia any more - i've just had a look on tesco's website & there's nowhere in scotland you can use the restaurant deals vouchers.........no fair :(
