Morgan Stanley Platinum Card
Morgan Stanley has announced that it has doubled the rate of Cashback it will offer new applicants for its Platinum credit card during the first four months of 2005. A promotional rate of up to two per cent* will be paid on purchases made between 1 January and 1 May 2005 inclusive to customers who take out a Platinum Card in the New Year.
*Paid yearly on your annual level of purchases. The Cashback Bonus award is 1% of the first £2,000 of purchases and 0.5% thereafter of purchases (up to your credit limit) made in a particular year. From the date your Account is opened up to and including 1st May 2005, Morgan Stanley will double the amount of Cashback Bonus award you earn. See Cashback Bonus rules for additional information.
You can also get £11.50 cashback from Rpoints when you're accepted for a Morgan Stanley card - more details via this link in the referrer's board.

Just to clarify - "up to your credit limit" applies presumably to 12 times monthly credit limit in 1 year rather than a month's credit limit over 1 year?
If you spent more than £2000 before 1 May 2005 [eg £3000] then you would only get 1% for part of that initial period, 1% for the rest and 0.5% for all spending outside that period? [eg 2% of £2000 = £40 + 1% of [£3000 - £2000] = £10, total £50 plus 0.5% thereafter ].....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
is there any way existing customers can get this offer also? or will they only offer it to new customers?0

Saw this and looked good to me. I have an AMEX blue card and a CONRAN card and thought I would apply for the M S card, to get 2% up till May. Then I see the latest email from Martin which says "Currently there's much hype surrounding Morgan Stanley's 'double cashback intro offer', but forget it, it's pants; there are much better cards out there" but there's no explanation on the site why it is "pants". Martin can you explain why?

Am going to ring them as I am an existing customer. If they say NO I will stop using the card as I am now over the 2k 1%. Got other cards I can use.I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0

However I will keep it open till my anniversary date just to get my cashback.I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0

Possibly because the extra cash back is 'capped' if I understand it [see my reply above]?
Also it only comes with a 5.9% life of balance rate on transfers and those transfers left on the card means it could not then be used for cashback purposes. So forget the balance transfer and just use it for purchases upto £2000+ in the first four months, and then start using it again after the first anniversay when the 1% becomes available again........under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
